Soup, a sunset and some shoes #littleloves

Wahey, another week down. And what a beautiful week it was! So much gorgeous sun, it was all t-shirts and shorts/dresses at school this week.

So, as well as all the glorious sunshine and warmth, what have I been loving this week?

Read

Not much. Still going through my history book from last week, we’re onto the George’s now…I never knew that we literally imported a distantly related monarchy from Hanover in the 1700s. Interesting stuff as always, and I’ve learnt about Whigs and Tories. Woo!

Watched

Amongst other bits and bobs, a BBC documentary about girls leaving their families to be ‘jihadi brides’ as part of IS. It shocked me right to the core, it was terrifying and overwhelming and made me long for the day when all the suffering and pain of the world is over.

On a lighter note, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching the trees blossom and buds appearing on the branches 🙂

Wore

Some cheapie new shoes, that I’m sort of loving quite a bit. I did a quick trip to ShoeZone in the week as I needed some shoes for work, and as it was two for £8, I grabbed another pair in navy. They probably won’t last me beyond the summer, but they’re cute 🙂

I know, with socks isn’t ‘cool’, but I’m not sure I care that much 🙂

There was also a bit of swimsuit-love from the comments last week (thanks so much to everyone who stopped by/commented, it means a lot 🙂 ), I got mine from Simply Swim. They have a wide selection of ‘legsuits’ as they’re called, great solution to any others out there who want a bit more coverage…

Heard

A bit of Pitch Perfect love 🙂 Anna Kendrick has a great voice, and I love this simple song. I quite like the fun video here too, using the noises of life to make music (stick with it beyond the long-ish intro).

Made

My first ever fish pie! A Jamie Oliver recipe, which is super simple and quick. No white sauce, just grate some carrot, cheese and celery, chop up some fish and throw them in, add spinach and tomato if you like, then cover with mash. Delish.

Also made some yummy veg soup that was tea once and then lunch for the week. Just the right amount, and was much more flavoursome than the varieties that I’ve made before.

And lastly…

We went to the Peaks with friends on Monday evening to watch the sunset and boy was it stunning. My phone camera, of course, doesn’t do it justice, but the colours were just so wonderful…pastel purples and pinks with stronger yellows and oranges, then the sun was a perfect ball of pinky orange that sunk below the hills to leave a bright pink glow. I wish I could be more poetic than that, but I’ll let the pictures do the talking 🙂

Gorgeous, gorgeous sunset photos! Great captures.
I love Pitch Perfect, in fact I think I might watch it tonight while the mister is away in London. So excited for the next one! xx

What amazing photos! Cheese in soup can never be a bad thing. I’ll need to look that recipe up sometime.
I love a bargain pair of shoes. Bagged myself a similar pair from Tesco for £8 for hols. If they don’t make it back, at that price I can’t argue!

    Have a great one!

I love Pitch Perfect although as a teacher it drove me mad when the kids were obsessed with doing the cups dance. None of them could get it right but they would try to spend most of the lesson practicing. Great pics at the end xx

Likewise, it’s a really lovely song. I know, I was pretty bowled over by it all. As much rubbish as there is though, there’s also lots of beauty, we just have to see that too 🙂 xx

I love her too, she’s been fab in the roles I’ve seen her play. They’re very comfy, I wear the black pair for work and love them 🙂 hope you had a good weekend and your family are getting better xx
